INSTITUTE REPRESENTATIVES TAKE PART IN DISCUSSION ON THE ROLE OF EX POST EVALUATION IN PUBLIC ADMINISTRATION REFORM
Members of the Association of Political Sciences of Ukraine, Nataliia Kononenko, Leading Research Fellow at the Kuras Institute of Political and Ethnic Studies of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, and Ihor Symysenko, Research Fellow at the Institute, took part on 22 July in the event “The Role of Ex Post Evaluation in the Public Policy Cycle,” dedicated to current issues of assessing the effectiveness of reforms and using evaluation findings to improve public policy.
The event was organised by the National Agency of Ukraine on Civil Service, the Higher School of Public Administration, and the Centre for Adaptation of the Civil Service to the Standards of the European Union.
Participants discussed the importance of ex post evaluation as a tool for analysing the actual outcomes of implemented policies and reforms, its place in the public policy cycle, as well as opportunities to use evaluation findings to improve the quality of public administration and strengthen the evidence base for subsequent policy and management decisions.
The participation of the Institute’s representatives demonstrates the Institute’s engagement in professional discussions on contemporary approaches to evaluating public policies and reforms, particularly in the context of strengthening the capacity of Ukraine’s public authorities.
The event was held as part of the project “Empirical Ex Post Evaluation and Capacity Building for Ukraine’s Public Administration Reform Strategy,” implemented by the PROVIDUS Public Policy Centre (Latvia) and the Professional Government Association / Professional Government NGO (PGA). The project is funded by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Latvia, while its expert component is partially supported by the SIGMA Programme.
