HURKIVSKA ALONA IHORIVNA

Acting Research Scientist of Political Culture and Ideology Department, Doctor of Philosophy in Political Science.
Born on 29 November 1996 in Kyiv. Bachelor’s degree (2017) and Master’s degree (2019) in Political Science, as well as a Bachelor’s degree (2021) in Law, she obtained at the Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv. Doctor of Philosophy degree in Social and Behavioural Studies with a subject area “Political Science” was conferred by the Specialised Scientific Council at the Kuras Institute of Political and Ethnic Studies of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine (2024).
Visiting researcher at Södertörn University, Sweden (2022-2025), teaching the courses “Politics and Technologies” and “Nationalism.”
In 2017-2025, she worked as a manager and coordinator of international technical assistance projects funded by the United States Agency for International Development and the European Union, and as a manager of communication with international partners for the State Tax Service of Ukraine under the EU Public Finance Management Support Programme (2019-2023).
Author of more than 20 analytical materials on parliamentary reform. She coordinated a sociological survey conducted by the USAID RADA Programme for members of the Ukrainian Parliament on parliamentary reform. Author of the Green Book ‘How to Ensure the Legislative Quality?’ (2018), developed by the USAID RADA Programme aimed at determination and addressing problems that arise during the legislative process. Member of the Interagency Working Group on Drafting the Rules of Procedure of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine (2018).
The results of her research were presented at international conferences in Sweden, Iceland, Germany and Denmark.
Research interests: post-truth, propaganda, disinformation, ideology, national security, policy analysis.
