The present monograph analyses the processes of transformation of the political regime in Ukraine during the period of independence. Resting on a broad empirical basis, this research project analyses a deviant correlation of the projected and the effective political regimes in Ukraine, the specifics of the public administration system, regional practices of the political regime, the nature of political parties and civil society, as well as the aspects of political culture and political consciousness of Ukrainian citizenry under the current political regime in Ukraine, together with the role of financial-industrial groups in political processes. The book analyses the dynamics of Ukraine’s performance in global rankings of democracy, as well as the phenomenon of ‘state capture’, while due recommendations are formulated with regard to the prospects of strengthening democracy in Ukraine. The book is intended for scientists, politicians, and both post- and undergraduate students of political science, as well as for everyone who is interested in the peculiarities of political development of Ukraine.
