Soldatenko V.F. Lyubovetsj O.M. The revolutionary alternatives in 1917 and Ukraine.

The book reproduces a panoramic picture of the events of breathtaking 1917 year in Russia and Ukraine. On the bases of archival materials, the press of those days, historiographical sources, the analysis of actual and hypothetical alternatives of the socio-political development of Ukraine is realized; ideological doctrines, social base and a regional influence of political forces that represented each of these alternatives are examined, the place and role of certain political forces and parties in the process of defending one or the other alternative are found out, the extent of their maturity and ability to lead the political processes is shown. Clearing up the events of those days in all their complexity, constant change and interdependency, the authors reveal the magnitude, acuteness and tension of the struggle for political power in Ukraine, which was strengthened with an extremely complex interplay and confrontation of social and national liberation aspirations. The special researchers’ attention of is given to the national models of social and political development of Ukraine as an alternative to the options proposed by the first provisional government (Vremennoye pravitel'stvo), and some time later, by the Bolshevik CNC.
