The book examines the influence of the ethnic factor on such aspects of the post-colonial development of African countries as the lack of noticeable socio-economic progress, the decorative nature of the democratization of their political systems, the establishment of a neo-patrimonial style of government and a prebendable economy, the ethnicization of the political space, the generation of conflict situations in domestic political life and in international relations, the nation-building process has slowed down.
