Vyacheslav Dmytrovych Yaremchuk
Leading Research Scientist of the Department of Theory and History of Political Science, Doctor of Political Sciences, Associate Professor.
He was born on May 5, 1959 in the city of Kyiv. In 1981 he graduated with honors from the Faculty of History of Ivan Franko National University of Lviv. In 1988 he defended his dissertation on “Activities of the Bolshevik organizations of Ukraine for creation and leading the Communist Youth Union (1917-1920)” in the specialty 07.00.01 – History of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union. In 2014 he defended his doctoral dissertation on “Ukrainian multiparty system of Dnieper and Western Ukraine: a comparative analysis (1899-1918)” in the specialty 23.00.02 – political institutions and processes. In 2005 he was awarded the academic title of Associate professor.
From 1981 to 2006 he worked at Ivan Franko Lviv National University, Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv, Kyiv Institute of Civil Aviation, and Kyiv National University of Technology and Design.
At Kuras Institute of Political and Ethnic Studies of National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine he has been working since 1992. He participated in the implementation of a number of research topics, in particular: “Ukrainian idea”, “Ukraine in the political systems of the twentieth century (historical and comparative analysis)”, “Revolutions and reforms in Ukraine: lessons learned for political and national strategy”, “Political identity in modern Ukraine”, “Political science in Ukraine”, “Regional political regimes in Ukraine: grounds for formation, specifics of functioning, features of transformation”, “Regional political elite in Ukraine: values, identities, political behavior”.
Member of the specialized board for the defense of dissertations for the degree of doctor (candidate) of political science at Kuras Institute of Political and Ethnic Studies of National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine.
He was awarded a charter of Kuras Institute of Political and Ethnic Studies of National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine (1993), charters of the Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine and the Central Committee of the Trade Union of Employees of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine (2009, 2016).
He is the author of more than 250 scientific and educational works on the problems of political science, history, culturology, published in Ukraine, Russian Federation and Belarus.
Research interests: political parties and modern political processes in Ukraine, regional political elite, political identities, problems of transformation of Ukrainian society, the Ukrainian question in the Russian and Austrian empires (XIX – early XX century), higher education in Ukrainian lands (XIX – early XX century).
