Department of Ethnopolitics

Head of the Department – Doctor of Political Sciences, Professor, Honored Worker of Science and Technology of Ukraine Viktor Kotygorenko.

The department was established in early 1992. Its organizer and first leader was Doctor of Historical Sciences, Professor, Honored Worker of Science and Technology of Ukraine May Ivanovich Panchuk (May 1, 1937 – August 4, 2018).

The main directions of the department’s work are the development of theoretical and methodological foundations of ethnopolitical science, research of historical dynamics of place and role of national minorities in the political space of Ukraine and its regions, scientific understanding of social contradictions and conflicts on ethnic grounds, around and concerning differences of ethnic and national interests, values, analysis of state ethno-national policy and development of proposals for its improvement, and ethno-political scientists’ training of the highest qualification.

As of 2021, the department has 8 scientists, 4 of them are doctors and 4 are candidates of science.

The most significant achievements of the department’s research work are published in collective and individual monographs and articles of employees, their speeches at international and domestic scientific meetings, in the media.
